A geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) is comprised of two geotextiles that are needlepunched together, encapsulating a layer of sodium bentonite clay between them. GCLs are known for having consistent, very low permeability. They have the unique ability to seal around penetrations, self-heal punctures, and self-seam at the overlaps. Clay Liner Adaptor (internal) Register Plates / Chimney. This adaptor is necessary when the space around the bottom of the clay liner is tight, or if the side walls slope up towards the clay hole. If there is plenty of clear horizontal space (ie. a flat concrete slab) around the hole, then our "External Fit Clay Adaptor" can be used. 2021-10-19 GEOSYNTHETIC CLAY LINERS (GCL) is composed of bentonite which is covered by geotextile, bentonite is usually reinforced with stitches or needle punching. GCL has a primary function as a separator between the layers of soil and water. In general, the GCL function is as like as geomembrane. GCL can be an alternative that is much more reliable and economical than EPA/530-SW-86-007-F DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, AND EVALUATION OF CLAY LINERS FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITIES by L.J. Resources Construction. HORIZONTAL FLOW. Horizontal Sub-surface flow wetlands are shallow excavations with a synthetic or clay liner to prevent ingress or egress of water. They are filled with a media through which effluent must flow. This can be anything from soil to light expanded clay aggregate, but 10-14 mm gravel is the most common. Clay flue liners are used in chimneys to vent products of combustion-smoke, gas and moisture to the atmosphere. They also protect the chimney walls from heat and corrosion. A properly installed and damage free clay chimney liner will aid in the optimal performance of your heating appliance compacted clay liners in agricultural waste storage ponds and treatment lagoons. Approximate estimates for compacted liner permeability are given. This note provides means for more precise estimation as well as methods for field and laboratory measurement of the permeability of clay liners. Liner materials composite liners 2016-5-17 Cracking is a major concern in the long-term performance of landfill clay liners. Cracking of clay liners is affected by the roots of the vegetation planted to control erosion. While vegetation roots may restrict cracking they may introduce preferential flow through the liners.
